    Brown Bears Fishing!!

This cub was constantly running to keep up with its mother as she fished. It tried everything that she did. When she stood up to scout the river for salmon, the little bear stood up too, using his mom for support.

Photo Series of the Day: In 2003, Bob Carey started photographing himself wearing a tutu in various places “as a lark.” But, after his wife was diagnosed with breast cancer, The Tutu Project became so much more — it became a way to laugh again. Now, with Ballerina — a collection of Carey’s tutu photos — it’s also a way to raise money to help other breast cancer patients.

The net proceeds from the sale of the book will go directly to breast cancer organizations, including Cancercare.org and the Beth Israel Department of Integrative Medicine Fund, that make significant differences in the lives of women with breast cancer and in the people who love them. Our goal is to raise $75,000. But we need your help to seed the project so it will take root and grow—and positively affect these families.

    Michal Martychowiec, Vanito Vanitas, 2011.

“Vanito Vanitas. Emptying emptiness. At the beginning there is an image. And this somehow iconographic image is a base to operate with in this formal discussion. The initial images operate with symbols only in order for these symbols to be rendered inoperative. To empty the empty is to evoke the pure experience of it. One that can be conceived despite the cultural or intellectual background of the viewer. I deprive my work of any symbolic representation.”

    Java Jacket

This literal java jacket is made from the same recycled paper and serves the practical function of a typical java jacket, but it looks a bit more stylish.

Excited to announce the release of my new typeface, HIGHWAY.

HIGHWAY is an attempt to capture the charm of hand-done early to mid-century Futura clones, the kind of beautiful lettering that happens when a human hand tries to recreate something mechanical. Created during (and inspired by) a cross-country roadtrip, Highway may very well be the first typeface created in the back of a camper. Tons of alternate characters, ligatures, and OpenType sorcery make for endless custom lettering for logos, signage, and seminal prog-rock double albums. Roll on, Babes.
